great picnic dinner
prepared by the
Sherman House
Steering Committee
as well as the music
provided by Kathy
Inman
Following the buffet
dinner, re-enactors
shared letters
written by William
T. Sherman at
different stages of
his life. The
letters shared were
from the collections
of the Sherman House
Museum, the Library
of Congress and
Notre Dame
University. Included
were recently
discovered letters
Sherman wrote while
a cadet at West
Point.
Jim Hachtel served
as narrator. Thomas
Troup portrayed
Sherman and read a
letter dated March
4, 1832. Mason
Taylor also
portrayed Sherman
and read a letter
dated April 4, 1836
and others from Aug.
1, 1836 to Jan. 26,
1840. Bob Williams
portrayed Sherman
later in life, and
read letters from
the April 1861 -
Dec. 22, 1864 years.
Donna Lawrence
portrayed Mary
Sherman and Ken
Culver portrayed
President Lincoln. |
