Commemorate the 150th Anniversary of the Civil War in Sherman's Hometown!

Featured Speakers:
Richard McMurry
    - Speaker, humorist, and author of many books including Atlanta 1864: The Last Chance for the Confederacy
Edward Caudill
    - Speaker, reporter, and author of many books including Sherman's March in Myth and Memory
E. Chris Evans
    - Civil War scholar, speaker, and historian who has written many feature articles for Civil War magazines
Donna Lawrence
   - Retired teacher whose special interests are women in the Civil War, the Sherman family, and U.S. presidents
Other speakers to be announced at a later date.

Activities begin at 10am Saturday morning in the beautifully restored Lodge in Lancaster and include meals, book signings, several museum tours, venders, cash bar and social time. A special group rate is available at the Hampton Inn Lancaster. More details will be posted here soon.
 


Gen. William T. Sherman Memorial Civil War Roundtable

Schedule of meetings to be held at 7 p.m. on Wednesdays, January - May 2012.

Sherman House Museum, 137 E. Main Street, Lancaster, Ohio.

The CWRT promotes interest in the American Civil War and the rich history surrounding it. The CWRT members meet to study all aspects of the Civil War. A social time, refreshments, and a meet-and-greet are featured at each meeting. Everyone is welcome for a small charge of $5.00. January 18, 2012:
Darl L. Stephenson, local resident and former agent with the U.S. Defense Intelligence Agency, will be presenting his book, "Headquarters in the Bush: Blazer's Independent Union Scouts." It tells the story of Western Virginia in the Civil War.

February 15, 2012:
General W. T. Sherman Birthday Party

NOTE: Special location for this meeting!
Movie Night! The film "Assault at West Point" will be shown in the Events Center at Ohio University - Lancaster Campus. The movie is based on a book written by John Marszalek and tells the story of a Black cadet's court martial. There is a brief appearance of an actor portraying General W. T. Sherman.

March 21, 2012:
"The Johnny Clem Story" will be told by Linda Leffel, from the Licking County Speaker's Bureau.

April 18, 2012:

May 16, 2012:
"Human Interest and Battlefield Stories of Gettysburg" will be presented by Scott Mingus, author of seven books on Gettysburg. To learn more about the author visit his website: www.scottmingus.com/
